Day 46, Post Op

Some significant things have happened in the last week. First, the swelling my knees dropped a bit, which seems to be responsible for my being able to feel the metal and the "clicking" of the joint for the first time. This is normal and expected, and it will go away at some point this year. The second thing is that I'm back to work, up to 25 hours per week, until April 1. On April 1 I return to work full time. Third, I saw the surgeon ("Old Cranky Pants") on Thursday and he said that I was where he expected me to be--at SIX MONTHS POST OP! He's happy with my progress. I am able to climb steps foot-over-foot, and sometimes go down them foot-over-foot, although I still use the old one-foot-at-time for descending most of the time.

I'm completely off the Oxycontin now, and using Percocets only for PT when necessary.

PT continues to focus on scar reduction, stretching and flexing the knees, and lots and lots of strengthening exercises. I am up to 25 minutes of cardio (on the bike or NuStep) at one time, and I'm using 95 pounds on the leg press, for presses and calf raises.

Tomorrow is our anniversary--Mr. Fluffy and I have been together for (gulp) 35 years!!! We are debating about going out or not.
