Day 38 Post Op Report

This week I returned to work for 12 hours--three half-days. The results were mixed; on Tuesday I was so exhausted that I went to bed and pretty much stayed until the next morning, Wednesday and Thursday went fine and I finished a number of projects. So far, so good. I see the surgeon next week and will encourage him to bump me up to 20 hours a week, with a gradual return to full time by April 1. I think that might be do-able.

Physical therapy continues to produce improvements. My left knee is now at 116 degrees of flexion; the right knee is 125, which is considered normal. Extension is now a bit more difficult, for reasons I can't articulate. It might be because I'm fairly well weaned off the narcotics and can just feel more pain when the PT is forcing them down.

I have been able to ride the bike for 10-20 minutes at a time, although with minimal resistance. The left knee is still "catching" and not entirely comfortable with the rotation. But this is also getting better with each attempt.

All in all, I still think I'm way ahead of schedule.
